Kiehl’s Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream

Just as i thought we’re all transitioning to CC creams (read my review on Chanel’s CC Cream here), Kiehl’s put me back on the BB track with it’s Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream.

Kiehl's Actively Correcting & Beautifying BB Cream

I loved the fact that Kiehl’s has produced this BB cream in 3 shades (Light, Fair, and Natural)… so many other companies only create 1. I found the Light shade to be too pinkish on me, but it would be good for adding radiance to sallower complexions. Natural was a tad too dark on me. Fair was my perfect match.

The BB cream goes on smoothly, and a little goes a long way. I liked the way it evened out my skin tone leaving a dewy look (as opposed to the shiny sheen that so many other BB creams out there create). I actually prefer my skin to look a bit more matte, so I applied a mattifying primer underneath, and topped it off with some loose powder. The coverage is surprisingly good, although I still needed concealer to cover up my zits and under eye circle. I took it out on a test run on one of the hottest and most humid days, jumping in and out of air conditioning, and was happy to find that it lasted me a good half a day before getting oxidized and oily.

This BB cream has no added fragrance, so what you smell is pretty much the actual scent of the ingredients. Some of the reviews out there have described it as a herbal-ish scent, whilst I found it to be more medical-ly. It doesn’t bother me though, in fact, I like the lack of fragrances as that makes it suitable for sensitive skin.

There is a very high SPF 50 protection included, which makes this one of the longest lasting sunscreens available for daily use. However, this is achieved through chemical ingredients (as opposed to natural ingredients) homosalate, octocrylene, and ethylhexyl salicylate… so nature buffs should watch out. Again, i’m not overly concerned as most sunscreens currently in the market are chemical in nature. As long as we steer clear of titanium dioxide.

The last point to note, one which saddens me greatly, is the use of silica. I understand this helps the product glide on and create a smooth finish. Unfortunately, I’m sensitive to silica, which causes breakouts. *dang*

Kiehl’s SG is organizing a “BBetter BB Cream” campaign! Simply swap your older BB cream for a travel-sized version of Kiehl’s Dermatologist Solutions Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream! The swap period is from 4-17 March, but hurry, while stocks last!

I haven’t yet adventured into the BB Cream world since I could never find one that suits my skin tone. I think this may be the one!

hi Lifeofksong! Oh BB / CC creams are a godsend for casual days when you don’t want a heavy face of makeup! Do try this out (or pop by your nearest Kiehl’s counter to ask for a sample!) and let me know how you like it!!

I have this bb cream too! I use it more as a makeup base or on days where I don’t feel like wearing too much makeup. The scent is not as flora / powdery as other foundations.
