Tom Ford In The Pink Ombre Eye Color Trio Palette
This Fall 2013, Tom Ford released 2 different palettes, each consisting of a trio of shades to create the perfect ombre eye. I must be the last person to review these, but I’m grateful to be able to get my hands on these, as they are (once again) sold out in Singapore within hours of their launch!

In The Pink is perhaps the less popular of the 2 trios, but I personally found it to be quite charming. The textures of the 3 shades are all extremely creamy, especially the lightest left-most shade in the pan. Compared to She Wolf, In The Pink feels silkier to the touch and is more pigmented (although getting it to show up on the skin may a different question…more on that shortly).

The swatches above correspond to the shades from left to right on the pan:
- Pale beige-pink with a matte finish. This must be the creamiest eyeshadow I have ever touched! It is very well pigmented, but on my skin it simply disappears. It is perhaps best used as a highlighter under the brow bone, but I can’t seem to get it to work mixed in with the other shades in the palette.
- Medium peach-pink with frosted finish. This is equally creamy and good color pay-off. The frost is just barely there, very suitable for day wear, and does not make my lids look puffy.
- Champagne peach-pink with lots of micro-glitter. This shade is simply amazing!!! The glitter is extremely elegant… the swatch above is taken under sunlight but when worn on the lids it doesn’t actually flash that obviously. I don’t usually wear glitter on my eyes for a day look, but with this one, I may just change for good! There is also a good color pay-off, although I think it is light enough that it can be patted over a dark base for a completely different look.
Unlike some reviewers, I don’t think it is impossible to wear In The Pink on its own with a very good primer (I used NARS Pro Prime here). Mixed together, the look actually reminds me of Tom Ford’s Summer 2013 limited-edition Pink Haze Cream Color (reviewed here).

For the look above, I used the medium peach-pink shade all over, and then patted the champagne glitter all over. I wanted to add a bit more definition, so I *cheated* by dabbing on some Jouer Bordeaux to my crease, then blended using the lightest matte pink. My blending technique is sadly lacking in this case, but hopefully you get the idea! Any dark brown / mauve color should work equally well.

Another possibility may be to use In The Pink over a dark base. Either way, it may be a lot more work for a SGD88 palette. Personally, I think the shades of In The Pink are quite elegant with a fair bit of potential. I’m not much of a pink girl, but In The Pink just has that oomph to find a place in my collection. This is soldout locally, but if you’re at all interested, it is still available elsewhere online and I suggest you place your order(s) soon. I’ll be playing with this a bit more over the coming week, and will update if I find anything interesting to report!
xoxo
I’m really loving Tom Ford… too bad it’s so inaccessible (price-wise & availability!)… but it never hurts to drool over them virtually! Check out some of my latest acquisitions:
It looks so beautiful on you!! Im glad you made it work - I’ve read so much rants about how the color hardly shows up on them. I felt the same way too until I saw your post! But then again, it does lack a defining shadow which you made up for with Bordeaux. Lovely post, dear!
Thanks for your sweet words, Shari! Yes, In The Pink is really quite lovely, i’m v fond of the glitter shade! But it does take a bit more work… which I guess is most people’s gripe.
Did you get any of the Fall collection?
Orchid haze is on its way to me now! I really want to grab a trio but am
Stuck if I should get she wolf or in the pink! I’m so scared of pinks on the eyes but this looks too good to pass up on. Hmmmm!!! Decisions.
Oh Orchid Haze is LOOVVEEE!!! Do you have any of the light sparkly quads like Crushed Amethyst already? If so, then maybe you’d like to go with She Wolf (the only other quad that gives you an equally smokey look is Smoked Titanium. In The Pink does take a bit more to work… i’m wearing it with a dark khaki brown today and i love it! So, it really depends which will you get more use out of. Or get BOTH!!!
Let me know which you decide on!
