Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon Eyeliner
Ever since Marc Jacobs Beauty launched at Sephora stores in Singapore, it has been a constant pitstop in between appointments. There is just so much to check out! Especially since I’m no good at swatching everything in a go, and anyway I feel that mere swatches alone are not very useful without some actual personal tried-and-tested thoughts, so expect more posts along the way. For today, I’m taking a breather from the Summer 2014 releases, and taking a look at Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon Eyeliner!

As with all pencil eyeliners, it is always luck of the draw, regardless of any waterproof / non-smudge / last-all-day claims (read about my long journey through a gazillion pencils here). So it is with great joy and excitement that I can boldly declare this as my latest fave eyeliner formula!! It glides on even more smoothly than By Terry Crayon Kohl Terrybly, which is like saying it is smoother than silk. And the colors are amazingly intense:

From left to right:
- Blacquer – blacker than black, the color of my true love’s hair and all that… Marc Jacob’s signature color. It is glossy in a way no other black pencil eyeliner is able to achieve.
- Intro(Vert) – a crisp cool teal with light green shimmers. A standout shade for the inner eye corners.
- N(Ice) – platinum silver with metallic shimmers. Another dramatic shade for an extreme makeover.
- Ro(Cocoa) – bronze with golden shimmers. This has become one of my favorite go to liner when black is too intense.
- Jazz(Berry) – raspberry shade with metallic shimmer. I can see this looking really amazing when blended out to an all-over lid color.
- Th(Ink) – dark navy blue with some light blue shimmers. One of my faves this season to accompany all the blue eyeshadows that are trending at the moment.
What I really love about these highliners is they are so easy to blend out… some gel liners and kohls claim to be blendable, but not many are as smooth and easy to blend as regular eyeshadows. And once they set, these babies last all day even on my oil-slicked lids and extreme hooded peek-a-boo faux double-lids. On my lower waterline, they last most of the day without smudging. The intensity does wear down as the day progresses, so a touch-up is needed if I’m going out at night.
Another aspect that I love is these are TWIST-UPs!!! No more messing around with unwieldy sharpeners!!! No more rude shocks when you are on the fly and pull out a pencil to find it blunt to the stub without a sharpener in sight! Just twist up, and when you’re done, twist it back down again if you like (can you sense my excitement on this small miracle?? Yeah, don’t get me started on those pencils that only go up!)!! And if you are OCD-inclined and need that razor-point, there’s a pull-out sharpener-thingy at the end too.
If the 6 shades shown here fail to excite you, Marc Jacobs has launched 9 brand new shades for Summer 2014!! These are slated to hit international markets sometime in June… so watch out for them! If you reside state-side, lucky dawgs… go out and conquer now!
xoxo

I am very tempted to try out the black one Linda, I have the worst luck with pencil and gel eye liners, everything smudges.
Wow!!! They are so pretty! I super like the RoCocoa. It will match my naked 3 palette.
Yes RoCocoa works so well with many palettes!!
