Having fallen in love with 3.1 Phillip Lim for NARS collection of nail polishes, I couldn’t resist picking up one more. And this time, I went for something equally dark and sultry… I chose the Other Side.
3.1 Phillip Lim for NARS Other Side is described as “bitter chocolate”, and it is indeed like creamy dark chocolate. The red streaks in it reminds me of oxblood, but this is darker, more brown-toned… and therefore more modern. It is a rather complex personality which photographs differently under different lighting… depending on various factors, it could appear wine red, or almost black.
Other Side left me somewhat perplexed. I had previously loved the ease of application and the formula of Wrong Turn (reviewed here), and was surprised to find Other Side was completely different. It streaked horribly at first coat, and I couldn’t cover even 1 nail with 1 dip but had to redip the brush (and my nails are tiny!). It also took longer to dry, and did not have a shiny finish. Overall, i was a little disappointed by Other Side, but still loved the color.
The color looks nice, but what I really loved were your accessories!
Thanks Sil, i loved them too!
Very surprised this applied so badly, Nars polishes tend to be quite good in the creme category, but there’s always a first in everything :/
Love the colour on you, and how you rock the accessories in the first pic <3
Hi Noodles, hmm… actually i’ve had mixed experiences with NARS creams… those Pierre Hardy ones were not great although I thought it was due to the lightness of the shades, whilst the Andy Warhol ones were great. I also have Schiapp, and wasn’t terribly impressed. But i must say this one is the worst of all.
Too bad it doesn’t apply well. No matter how pretty the shade is, if I get put off during application, I’d forget about it!
You are right, Lily. I’m prob going to have to destash this one.
