Where has the day gone?! I was pretty sure I’d have time to get this post up today, but it’s 11pm and I’m just getting started! In any case, it’s going to be short and sweet one, because I’ve already raved enough about these Shu Uemura Laque Supreme here last year, and these are not absolutely new products. Last Holiday 2015, Shu Uemura took these wonderful lip formulas one step further by incorporating fine gold pearls to create 2 limited edition Laque Sparklers [reviewed here]. And as I predicted, those turned out to be such fabulous ideas that Shu Uemura has returned with 8 brand new shades this Spring 2016 - Shu Uemura Laque Supreme Shimmer!
Inspired by Japanese lacquerware, Shu Uemura’s Laque Supremes are a breed of highly pigmented, ultra-glossy, long-wearing lip lacquers first introduced last Spring 2015 [reviewed here]. Now, they have been re-invented with fine shiny gold and silver pearls to give a dimensional lustre to the lips. The applicator remains the same easy-to-use doe-foot flocked brush, and the tube is the same chic glossy black.
What seems to set these new Laque Supreme Shimmers apart is the pearlised micro shimmers that are not immediately visible, but give throw up the light from different angles to give a dimensional look to the lips that is quite cool. At the same time, I found the formula to be slightly thinner, and shade OR 03S in particular was slightly translucent and I was not able to build up to full opacity. Nonetheless, still incredibly pretty and totally covetable!
I received 3 shades as press samples, and here are the lip swatches:
And as always, full makeup looks to give you the full perspective.
PK 06S is that perfectly sweet pink that goes with a light smokey eye, very easy to wear for Sunday brunches, tea parties, garden weddings, etc. Definitely one to have for the spring!
As expected, OR 02S is highly impactful, a bold neutral-toned red. See how the pearl shine shows up? It really reminds me of Japanese lacquerware!!
OR 03S is a little sheerer than the other 2, and no matter how much I apply, I can’t seem to build it up to full opacity. But, I actually quite enjoy its semi-sheerness! Somedays, I blot it out after giving it about 10 seconds to semi-dry, and wear it as a stain. It has enough color pigment in it to leave a good stain, and then it lasts and lasts!
Have you tried any Shu Uemura Laque Supremes? And what do you think about these new pearlised finishes?

I’m usually not much of a sparkle lippie kinda girl, but these look very pretty!
Lol, me neither actually. But when they are fine enough, I enjoy the extra sparkle and dimensional quality!
I think I still prefer my lip products without sparkles, but these do look lovely on you, Linda 🙂
When we are talking about these super-fine, micro shimmers, I’m impartial 😉
I have one of those which you sent me. I loved the texture although I am not a gloss/liquid lip girl. These reds look fab on you.
Aww… i was wondering if I’ll ever get to see it on you! I started reaching for these liquid things more often late last year primarily because I wanted to try to make a dent in some of them before they go bad. And then it just became a natural habit.
