SUQQU Blend Colour Eyeshadow EX-36 Fuyu Sumire & Creamy Glow Lipstick EX-02 Kan Botan

I am trying to beat the clock here, as these SUQQU UK-Exclusive Colour Makeup for Christmas 2016 will launch on Selfridges website today, which means those of you who did not manage to get an early reservation will get the chance to purchase them online! In case you are wondering, this is a special collection designed by their UK Senior Makeup Artist and Creative Consultant Jorge Balzaretti to celebrate SUQQU’s 10-year anniversary in the UK. Everything is limited edition of course, and today I would like to introduce you to the Blend Colour Eyeshadow Palette EX-36 Fuyu Sumire. For this collection, SUQQU UK has brought back the cult-favourite Creamy Glow Lipstick formula in 3 limited edition shades, and I have EX-02 Kan Botan to show you as well!

There are 2 limited edition eyeshadow palettes in this collection - yesterday’s EX-35 Yuki Tsubaki [reviewed here] is a bold reddened-pink themed creation, and today’s EX-36 Fuyu Sumire is the perfect counterpoint with a cooler, more pastel-inspired palette.

So named for the beautiful violets whose delicate blooms enchant wild fields and hills in the snowy winter, EX-36 Fuyu Sumire presents us with a quad comprising of all the shades that are reminiscent of that flower. This seems like an unlikely colour palette for a holiday collection, and is certainly more spring in feel, but after playing around with it, I was surprised by how timeless and even party-appropriate Fuyu Sumire is!

And the corresponding swatches are:

From left to right, the shades are:

• Top left of palette - light shimmering pink
• Top right of palette - light lilac with a matte finish
• Bottom right of palette - light icy turquoise with a matte finish
• Bottom left of palette - deep burgundy with a matte finish

Just as with EX-35, this EX-36 Fuyu Sumire features 3 matte shades and 1 shimmer. Overall, this is a cool-toned palette, and I was surprised by how nicely pigmented the pastels are. Shades like these have a tendency to pull chalky white on my roughly NC25 skin, but both the lilac and turquoise managed to show up well without much work.

For this eye look, I started by applying the lilac shade all over my lid as a base. Next, I added the burgundy to the outer corner, keeping close to the lash line but blending upwards towards the crease. I also lined my lower lash line with the burgundy, but pushed some of the pink shimmer into it to make things interesting. Lastly, I added a dab of pink shimmer over the center of my lid, and popped the icy turquoise into the inner corner. Clearly, this is intended to be more of a day look, but you can always amp up the drama by using the burgundy as a darkening base before layering the other shades over it.

Even if none of the eyeshadow palettes appeal, you should definitely consider picking up 1 or more of the limited edition SUQQU Creamy Glow Lipsticks. These are cult favourites and for a good reason. Long before the recent trend of pigmented yet moisturising lip balms, SUQQU Creamy Glow Lipsticks have been filling in the gap with their lush formula, lightweight and silky on the lips, yet beautifully pigmented and gives the lips a luscious shine. These have sadly been discontinued and replaced with newer formula over the past year, but SUQQU UK has been bringing them back in limited edition seasonal collections. There are 3 in this Holiday 2016 collection, and the one I have here is EX-02 Kan Botan. This is a lovely brightened pink that stays true to a creamy pink than bold fuchsia. The name kanbotan refers to a winter peony, and it really is a fitting description for this pretty wearable shade.
