I have not been the biggest proponent for cushion foundations for the past few years, but I feel the industry has improved the formulation to a point where I find myself embracing them with open arms. And my latest obsession is Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion Pearl Aura, probably the first base product that have me determined to use up asap!

VDL is a Korean beauty brand that specialises in trendy makeup, and is helmed by Wendy Rowe, one of the top makeup artists in the US who has worked with backstage at fashion shows in London, Paris, Milan and New York. With VDL, she has created a full range of skincare and makeup targeting Asian women. What I like about the brand is that everything is priced very affordably, and do not resort to overly girlie design frills to attract buyers. Instead, all the products that I’ve tried so far are of a good quality that works well and lasts on the skin. I had the chance to try VDL’s award-winning Lumilayer Primer recently in combination with their Perfecting Last Foundation, and would like to introduce them to you today.

Lancome launched its cushion foundation to great fanfare in the West earlier this year, but was released rather quietly out here in Asia. It is understandable, as most of Asia has already been accustomed to this whole notion of cushion foundations, and so Lancome quite rightly chose to spend its marketing dollar and customer eduction elsewhere. On the other hand, it also made the right decision to market its cushion foundation with brightening properties and renamed it Lancome Blanc Expert Cushion Compact.
